(report by Phil Woods)
The Liam Ball Triathlon takes place early in the season which means a pool based swim in Templemore Leisure Centre, Derry.
The timing of the Invictus Malaga training camp meant that only a handful of Invictus Squad members made the trip over the Glenshane pass in search of early season National Series points – Phil, Vaughan, Tayra and Ian. They were rewarded with a very well organized and enjoyable race in good conditions (for the time of year).
The Invictus team took advantage of some legal drafting in the swim so exit the water ready to tackle the out and back drag strip bike course.
On the bike leg Paul Carroll made his move and by the time the run started the race was over although he still went on to post the fastest run split of the day.
Phil Wood was first home for Invictus and 5th overall followed by Vaughan in 14th. Ian Steele’s strong bike earned him 57th place and with Tayra coming home in 183rd.
